Every year Canal Walk Shopping Centre produces a new brand campaign. These campaigns become our identity. As a super-regional shopping centre, it was important for us to take the plunge and a different approach from traditional marketing. We felt like we needed to be more relatable, so we’re shaking things up with an authentic campaign that speaks to you, as a Canal Walk shopper.

The campaign encourages everyone to embrace their individuality and be inspired to be their unique self. So, this year we’ve stepped outside the box and produced a fresh, new campaign entitled, My Story My Style! Because, everyone has their own story and personal style… and now, it’s time to own it and show it off!

The idea behind the campaign is to feature a selection of South African heroes, each with their own unique style and story. They are all completely different and have become successful in their own right, while staying completely true to who they are.

THE SHOOT

After months of planning our vision came to life in a professional studio in the centre of town. The 2 day shoot was coordinated by Netsport and included many hours of photography and videography, with a team of over 20 professionals on set.

Photographer, Jacques Weyers, ensured that he captured each hero and their style in one single shot. Videographer, Richard Hughes, and his team were responsible for capturing their personalities through video. It was important to us that each hero was also styled accordingly to their authentic style and reflected their persona accurately. This was made possible by stylist – Cally Palmer, hair stylist – Merle Titus and makeup artist – Alet Viljieon.
