Jive Funny Championships

So you think you're funny...

The Jive Funny Championship is a competition looking for South Africa’s next hilarious comedian. Over the years, the Funny Festival has discovered, developed and showcased new talent and now has created The Jive Funny Championships for the sole purpose of discovering young up-and-coming comedians from Cape Town and give them a chance to show off their funny alongside the star-studded cast.
This year, the project (an initiative of the City of Cape Town and sponsored by MTN) is held at the Canal Walk Auditorium for the first time!

The Jive Funny Championships will run from 7 May – 4 June 2022 at the Canal Walk Auditorium (close to entrance 5). 

Audiences are invited to attend each of the heats that will be judged by Cape Town funnies, including Mel Jones, Nik Rabinowitz, Kagiso KG Mokgadi, Dalin Oliver, Alan Committie as well as the final with special guest judge - David Kramer.  Tickets cost R50 per person and will also include a performance by one of the guest judges. Come and support these brave contestants and enjoy a great night out!

Heat 1: 11 May 8pm. Headline act Dalin Oliver
Heat 2: 18 May 8pm. Headline act Mel Jones
Heat 3: 25 May 8pm. Headline act KG Mokgadi
Heat 4: 1 June 8pm. Headline act Nik Rabinowitz
Finals:  4 June 8pm. Headline act Alan Committie & David Kramer
