The coronavirus has impacted lives across the globe and changed the way we work and play – and of course, the way we say “I Do”. While engaged couples have had to look at alternative ways of celebrating their wedding day, we’ve ultimately seen a rise in micro weddings, which generally cater for a guest count of up to 50. But what exactly are the benefits of micro weddings and is it the right decision for you? We’re sharing our favourite reasons to love micro weddings and of course the incredible suppliers who will help you achieve your dream day.
An intimate celebration
The challenge with large weddings is that bridal couples generally don’t get to spend enough, quality time with their guests. However, micro weddings are the complete opposite as it’s incredibly special and personal. Not only will you be able to spend quality time with your guests, but also you will instantly feel more relaxed in a smaller, more intimate setting.
Your wedding day should ultimately be a celebration of your love with those closest to you and a micro wedding would definitely help you to achieve this.
The idea of a micro wedding is to keep it small and intentional. No bride or groom should be stressed leading up to his or her wedding day or on the day thereof. Micro weddings allow for easier planning – remember, the larger your guest list, the more intricate the planning becomes. With that said, a good pamper session is definitely needed to alleviate any last minute stress or to simply enjoy some downtime with your bridal party or spouse to be.
A personalized experience
A smaller guest count means that you can truly be intentional as to how you spend your wedding budget. Instead of splurging on a big celebration of 150 guests, tailor your wedding to include personalized experiences for your guests. Some of our favourite ideas are to include a live band that will wow your guests, a complete foodie experience or entertain your guests with an epic bar experience complete with a mixologist. Alternatively, we encourage you to spoil yourself with your dream wedding shoes or a beautifully tailored suit at one of our men’s fashion outlets such as Carducci or Fabiani.
Less financial pressure
It’s no secret that the covid-19 pandemic has placed many under immense financial pressure. Cutting costs in all aspects of our lives have become second nature and of course this applies to weddings as well. However, it is important to note, that a smaller budget does not mean that your wedding will be any less special or beautiful. So with that said, yes, micro weddings will definitely place less financial strain on you, however your wedding day will still be absolutely perfect!
Weddings are massive contributors to environmental waste and pollution due to the excessive waste. Take a minute to think about it – when planning your wedding, environmental sustainability is not usually the first thing that comes to mind as everyone first thinks about what their dream wedding will look like. Flowers installations, stationery per guest, excessive foods (that often go to waste) and the list goes on.
The impact that micro weddings have on waste reduction is remarkable as everything is usually done on a smaller scale. A smaller wedding would ultimately lead to less wastage.
