Stripes went on holiday and got creative.

The last thing anyone could call Italian luxury brand Fendi is boring. So what happened when designer Silvia Venturini Fendi decided to tackle stripes (perhaps the most generic fashion staple after denim)?

She got arty. Picasso, along with Dalí, Hockney, and Einstein were the men on her mood board.

The men on her runway wore stripes ranging from painterly to graphic zig zag. The look, perfect for the summer holiday ahead, is effortless and effective. Pair your unconventional striped shirt or tee with either a block-colour short, or take a double shot of stripe and and opt for thick verticals below the belt. Complete the look with a pair of sandal/loafer woven hybrid shoes. These shoes, like some of the most noted works in art history, negotiate the boundaries between what is ugly and what is beautiful. The result is as alluring as the imminent summer break.
